Coding is not optimized so there are slow game play issues. Overall it is a fun game and has some interesting twists for units, but unless you really need a new rts stick to something tested and optimized. Having a major framerate drop during a 10 v 10 unit skirmish kills the mood.. This is a really fun game, actually. It's relatively intuitive despite some minor control interface things taht you can quickly get used to. There's no in-mission save either, which would really help with a lot of the problem's I've seen so far. There's no unit cap, so you can go back to the days of "SWARM ALL THE THINGS" of the hayday of RTS.However there is one SEVERLY CRIPPLING FLAW:Every now and then, the UI just desides to go "HERP DERP DERP I'M A MORON" and completely rob you of your ability to interact with anything. For instance, you'll select a structure and then tell it to go and deploy at a certain location. Only it doesn't. And the deploy interface won't go away. SO you try and select another unit, and it lets you. But the deploy interface is still there, so you can't actually tell it to do anything. And it gets more and more convoluted, and then you lose because you can't deploy units, or build new ones, or place defensive structures, or select your "DON'T LET THESE DIE" units get obliterated.. Don't get me wrong, this game is great. The main idea behind the game (dark side of a moon, no light) is the reason I bought this game. It just is too small of a game. If this would have been made by an experienced game company (e.g. Blizzard), I would have paid upwards of $60 for this game. It lacks the U.I. I was hoping for, feeling more like a prerecorded message.. 09/2015I review my eval. The game evolved in a good way. The game is mainly playable now : only the queued action is missing about the units mouvements. As I like the game, I think it doesnt deserve the orange satisfaction. x)06/2015At the moment, this game sux... Really...Not about the gameplay, but the controls make the game unplayable : you can't do queued action, you can't select multiple buildings, and the campaign suppose you already knows the game's mechanics. If the controls were more userfriendly and functional, the game would have a great potential.. An interesting RTS that takes me back to the classics from the 90s. The dark setting is quite interesting. I also like the mobility of all races. Graphics are more than decent.Recommended!. This is a litteraly, good stratedgy game. It doesn't catch the same spirit of other RTS's like StarCraft, Warcraft 3, Total War Series, Savage or the Age of Empire Series, but it's still a good stratedgy game.I have had my few expirences with the bugs and the control layout picked for this title, but after a little adaption to the hotkeys for attacking, building and so on; I was having a ball. They are now currently giving away the Noxx DLC for free, so I got no complaints with them on that! Each race has it's own strengths and weaknesses and each on of them react uniquely. Example, The Nova race, all of their buildings fly, land and take off with the exception of the command center. IIt sounds like Terrans from Star Craft, though I never seen the terrans move a stationary laser turret or a bunker to the front lines in the middle of a battle before.Another Example is the XY's, The use of the small 'cell' minions to create buildings and units! If you no longer need a unit or a building, it can be broken back down to the cell minion uniots and be built into something else! It's my favorite race so far for the versatility this race has and the change of tactics on the fly!Next thing I love about this game is the use of darkness in all of the games played in NightSide. While it keeps the devs from having to create textures for their maps, it acts perfectly as a fog of war and can help determine the power of your army or settlement. Such as, when you have a bunch or units gathered together, you can see a little more of the map around you and the units area is more well lit vs. a single unit out in the darkness is only a speck of dirt when he's trudging out there.I'm not a huge fan of techno, but the music composed for this during games is beautiful. I may look into buying it at some point when I have the funds. If there's a NightSide 2 in development oir if the Dev's plan to Release something else for this RTS, consider me hooked and in line toi get it.. Disclaimer: I got to chatting with one of the devs and he gave me a copy of the game a week or 2 before the release on steam. I was a 5 time master league player in SC2 I put hundreds of hours in the game and I think this game does a good job doing an interesting take doing a similar game to it. To start the game is different in terms of the macro mechanics by it only having 1 resource type rather than the 2 of SC2. This I think is fine I think the macro mechanics are pretty interesting for each of the 3 races even if they aren't perfect just yet. There are bugs and missing features but the game feels good to play gameplay wise. Ill give it a serious look when they they get multiplayer up and running and fix some of the bigger bugs like not being able to get units when they walk to the edges of the map. But in general ill give it a positive review because it is a good start and the game already works just fine other than just needed the few months of fixes before their eventual release.
